Hathaway’s first stage performances were as a high school actress and a soprano singer. After performing at Carnegie Hall in 1999, she attracted the attention of Fox television and was cast in the series Get Real at age 16. She made her film debut in The Other Side of Heaven and during the same time won the starring role of The Princess Diaries, which would become her first big hit. More recently, Hathaway had major roles in Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, and in 2012 will play the role of Selina Kyle (Catwoman) in The Dark Knight Rises.

In her personal life, Hathaway has been very involved in various charities, including helping her Italian beau, real estate developer Raffaello Follieri, set up the charitable Follieri Foundation. Unfortunately for Hathaway, the FBI arrested her (now ex) boyfriend after uncovering that he scammed investors for millions of dollars.
